*WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD* [spoiler2]So, guys, I propose we make separate threads to discuss discoveries of characters, items, stages, Subspace Emissary, and other kinds of things as we play the game or know about its Japanese version. This one is for characters. I'll probably avoid this thread for a while, but for now I won't. Feel free to not use the spoiler tags if you don't want to! ;D
So, it seems Lucario (Pokémon Diamond and Pearl), Jigglypuff (Pokémon Red and Blue), and Ness (EarthBound) have been spotted in hard-to-get frames from one official Japanese Brawl ad shown in the Japanese Wii official website. Below are the screenshots hosted at Brawl Central. Apparently, when you browse stickers, you'll be able to see a group of icons with the faces of the playable characters that belong to the same game series as the sticker you're selecting. And it seems that... one Mother sticker has Ness associated to it! And one Pokémon sticker has Jigglypuff and Lucario associated to it!! This is great to know, Lucario has been my most wanted playable character for Brawl for some long time, I'm so glad to see he's in, I've never been more pleased by a video's content before, and when I first saw it, I overlooked it...
They are small faces, so it's easy enough to not notice them I guess, but it's great to see some light shed on them now, we see the truth!
Ness returns, along with the newcomer Lucas. Jigglypuff also shall be a returning veteran, as well as the recent confirmation of the Pokémon newcomer Lucario, he will indeed be joining the brawl!
Looks like we may have our Pokémon newcomers; Pokémon Trainer, and Lucario. And I believe there might actually still be hope that Mewtwo (despite 4 playable Pokémon characters being shown, none of them being him) may still make it in.
I know, 5 Pokémon Reps is a lot, and I'm not saying it'll happen but it is possible. In that stickers picture highlighting Groudon, perhaps at that time, Mewtwo either hadn't been unlocked yet, therefore not showing him due to the fact it would've been showing you a character not yet unlocked.
Or it could possibly be that Mewtwo is playable, just isn't in Subspace Emissary, but his role maybe being that he is strictly a villian, and is not, during that mode, controllable by the player at any point in it, but is unlocked through it.
Or not even necessarily unlocked in it, he could appear as a villian after being unlocked by accomplishing some task outside of Adventure Mode: Subspace Emissary.
Which would explain why, if he's playable, that he isn't in the list of playable character that can be powered up by the Groudon sticker. So Mewtwo isn't out yet, for those who hope for his return.

Do I see a blank space next to Jigglypuff's icon there? It could be occupied by a fifth character whether it's Mewtwo or not.
I'm wondering what will they use Plusle & Minun for. Remember my sig? I was pretty sure they would serve as replacements for Pichu. But maybe they will appear as Poké Ball or at the electric field from Pokémon Stadium 2.

Could be, I'd prefer the latter two of the three mentioned over the first one, meaning they'd be a playable character, and they aren't on my list of wanted playable characters for Brawl at all...
And I did notice that there is clearly space for a 5th Pokémon character in there too, I'd love to see a new and improved Mewtwo in Brawl, but right now it's still up in the air, but definitely not deconfirmed by these pics by any means, unlike my original thoughts...
Either way, it'd be cool to face Mewtwo in Subspace Emissary as a villian, and like I said, that could be the methhod of unlock for him if he's in, so you never know. *keeps fingers crossed*
But I've been getting my most wanted characters confirmed as playable from top to bottom, now there is just Ridley, Krystal, and Wolf (may well not make due to being so similar to Fox in certain ways) left that'd I'd really like to see as playable in Brawl.
And, I would like to see Wolf Link in, probably with Midna, but I pretty much know that isn't going to happen, that'd be yet another surprise character, like the Pokémon Trainer. Who expected 3 characters in 1 to be playable?
But, to be honest, I'd be pretty happy if all the character we know of now are all that are playable in it, though I know there will be more, since the number of known playable characters now is just a bit too low, but there's a nice variety of characters I'll love to play as in Brawl already. ^_^

Yeah, but something tells me Lucario will have to be unlocked, which is good, makes you have to earn the right to play as him, because he's so good. =)
I wonder how many of the characters will be unlocked through Subspace Emissary, and how many will be unlocked through other modes.
I hope there are many unlockable characters, even if I do know what ones they are, the battle to unlock a character when they challenge you is so intense!

XD! Yeah, I can hardly wait, this makes this character roster pretty perfect for me, having my two most wanted characters, and of course cool newcomers like Snake, Sonic, Ike, Pit, Meta Knight, and so much more, including Pokémon Trainer and Lucario obviously!
This is the topper though, this has me absolutely ecstatic, I was so excited about when the Pokémon Trainer that uses Charizard was announced on August 13th, but this, this is just too much! Sakurai is really right on the ball with Brawl. 
I have to wonder, what could the rest of the roster possibly be? Who do we not know about, how many do we not know about? It's exciting! And Shadrio is leaving right when things are starting to get interesting! >_>Edit: Brawl in Hand? Official starting roster revealed? Check it out: brawlcentral.com/Think it's legitimate? Could this be the real thing? Maybe somebody has already gotten their hands on Brawl and could be playing and unlocking it's contents as we speak (if this is actually true)! I'm leaning towards thinking it's real, and if it is, then I hope the person who made it makes another video of Brawl, much longer than 9 seconds, and after he/she's unlocked all of the characters.
I'd like to see a lot of stuff that has never been shown before, that'd be proof, something like say, Lucario in a brawl, we definitely haven't seen that, we haven't even seen a picture to see what he'll look like in Brawl yet.Black Charizard Confirmed. Okay, I apologize for the double post, but I'm making this fresh, new reply with lots of new info that is out about Brawl. Be warned, there are significant spoilers.
First of all, I'd like to mention that it is believed to be most likely that all but one of the playable characters have been confirmed, and that the only one missing, is Wolf.
Below, is the link to an image of the character select screen of 34 of the characters out of what is mostly to end up being 35, being 4 rows of 9 characters, minus the bottom row, with the last spot being a Random character select option.

Did you see the video that has Lucario gameplay in that link I posted? If you don't want to you don't have to, but he looks great (and not just in appearance, but moveset as well, what you see of it).

No I haven't seen Lucario fight yet! Also looks like the Dojo doesn't want to spoil the game for everyone as well. ^_^' I like the Background!

Yep, Lucario has some of Mewtwos moves. Thats an awesome way to preserve them if Mewtwo wasn't back in ^_^'
